Annie’s Banannie Bread


This recipe for banana bread is from one of our members, Bernadette Cheek. She says that her very dear friend Annie gave her this recipe and has been loved by family and friends. Enjoy Annie’s Banannie Bread.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour 
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • pinch salt
  • ½ cup nuts (your choice - optional)
  • 3 large or 4 small over-ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 to 3 tab simple syrup or use syrup from canned peaches


Instructions

Add baking soda and salt into milk and stir well and set aside. Mix ingredients in order given. Add milk mixture. Add bananas and syrup. Mix well.

Preheat oven 325 degrees.

Grease and flour extra large loaf pan or 3 small pans. Bake extra large pan for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cover with foil and bake an additional 30 minutes. Bake small loaves for 45 minutes or until the loaf springs bake after touching top.
